CREATING ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT (ERM) WITHIN ENTERPRISE CONTENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (ECMS), Nineth annual conference on federal electronic records management. Program chair and co-presenter of the conference held at the Cafritz Conference Center, George Washington University, Washington, DC, June 13-14, 2005. The conference demonstrated how ERM within ECMS can provide cost-effective support to other key business functions in the enterprise architecture. Agencies now implementing ERM systems described their experience and progress. 

Consultant to Government Accountability Office on Electronic Records ManagementFrom February 2005 to the present, Dr. Sprehe is acting as a consultant to GAO on electronic records management, continuing the work begun in 2002 in the Study of Exemplary Practices in Electronic Records Management.

 

ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT IN FEDERAL INVESTIGATIVE CASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. Senior consultant to Northrop Grumman Information Technology on the place of electronic records management in the Federal Investigative Case Management System. January 2005 to present.

 

FBI DESKTOP ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT AND MORE. A follow-on project to the FBI's Electronic Record Keeping Certification Project to develop strategies and tactics for minimizing desktop end user involvement in electronic records management (ERM) and for accomplishing electronic records management in the background. SRA International. 2004 - 2005

 

FBI ELECTRONIC RECORD KEEPING CERTIFICATION PROGRAM, Senior consultant to SRA International on this project to develop for the Federal Bureau of Investigation a testing and certification program for all FBI information systems so as to ensure that all systems are records-management compliant. 2003-2004.

 

Chair, AIIM International Standards Committee on Integrated EDMS/ERMS Tim Sprehe is Chairman of the AIIM Integrated EDMS/ERMS Committee.  The purpose of the committee, whose membership is open to all interested parties, is to develop Integrated Functional Requirements for Electronic Document Management Systems and Electronic Records Management Systems.  All committee documents are posted on the committee website above and the committee maintains a listserv.  To join the committee, contact Betsy Fanning, Director of Standards, AIIM International, bfanning@aiim.org. Ongoing activity since May 2002.

ANSI/AIIM/ARMA TR48-2004 Framework for Integration of Electronic Document Management Systems and Electronic Records Management Systems. STUDY OF EXEMPLARY PRACTICES IN ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT, May 2003. Principal author, with Charles R. McClure and Alvin Pesachowitz, of study prepared for the U.S. General Accounting Office by Grant Thornton LLP.

 

DESIGN, IMPLEMENT, AND TEST AN ELECTRONIC RECORDS MANAGEMENT/DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT PILOT SYSTEM FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY. Senior consultant to SRA International on this project to assist EPA in choosing an agency-wide electronic records/documents management system.  July 2001 - March 2002.

 

Report on Current Recordkeeping Practices within the Federal Government. Senior Consultant to SRA International on this one-year study to assist the National Archives and Records Administration.   Final report published by NARA in December 2001.  Executive Summary.

 

PRIVACY-RELATED RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS AND INFORMATION RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SERVICES.  Senior consultant to Grant Thornton LLP on a project to assist the U.S. General Accounting Office with a series of policy-related research and analysis tasks, the first of which is the issue of privacy.  Completed January 2002.

 

Performance Measures for Federal Agency Web Sites. Performance Measures for Federal Agency Web Sites. Final report on a multi-agency research project to develop performance measures applicable to government websites. Project undertaken with Professors Charles R. McClure and Kristen Eschenfelder for the Defense Technical Information Center, the Energy Information Administration, and the Government Printing Office. October 2000.  Executive Summary.
